Kano State is gearing up for the official visit of the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, on Monday, with stringent security measures in place to ensure a smooth and secure event.
The purpose of the visit is to inaugurate the Faculty of Law Building named after her at the Maryam Abacha University, Kano.
According to the Director-General of Media and Publicity to the Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature, the state government has left no stone unturned in organizing the logistics and security arrangements for Mrs Tinubu’s visit.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, Bature emphasized the comprehensive security plan established in collaboration with the police to safeguard the First Lady and all attendees during the event.
Bature stressed the importance of maintaining peace and order during the visit, urging residents to conduct themselves peacefully and warmly welcome Mrs. Tinubu.
He expressed the state government’s commitment to creating a conducive and secure environment for the dignitaries and attendees.
In anticipation of the visit, Kano State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hussaini Gumel, assured the public of the police force’s readiness to ensure maximum security throughout Mrs. Tinubu’s visit.
Gumel affirmed that security personnel were on high alert and fully prepared to bolster existing security efforts for the occasion.
Gumel highlighted the issuance of operational orders to deployed officers regarding security protocols at each venue scheduled for the First Lady’s visit. He emphasized the deployment of sufficient armed personnel and the implementation of concrete security measures aimed at maintaining peace and tranquility.
As part of the security arrangements, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, initiated “Operation Show Force” to underscore their readiness and deter any potential security threats during the event.
“We have mobilised sufficient armed personnel to provide security cover for our First Lady before, during, and after the visit,’’ Gumel said.
Political party leaders were also urged to play a constructive role by discouraging violence and thuggery among their supporters, with a stern warning against engaging in any disruptive behaviour.
Gumel reiterated the police’s resolve to maintain law and order, vowing to arrest and prosecute individuals or groups found culpable of violating the peace.
