Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has agreed to a new contract to keep him at the club until 2028.
The England international, named in the squad on Thursday, moved to Villa from Brentford in 2020.
Watkins scored 15 goals last season to help Villa, which helped finish seventh and beat Tottenham Hotspur to a spot in the Europa Conference League.
“I think this is the best place for me to improve my game. I have a lot of ambitions here,” Watkins said.
He started his career at Exeter City’s academy and had a loan spell at Weston-super-Mare in non-league football before joining Brentford in 2017.
He impressed at Brentford for three seasons and Villa broke their transfer record to sign him for £28m in 2020.
Watkins reached 50 goals for Villa with a treble in a 6-1 victory over Brighton last weekend
He caught the eye of England boss Gareth Southgate, who gave him his first call-up to the national team since March 2022.
“It’s been an amazing week for me, one I’ll always remember,” Watkins told Villa’s website.
“I’m very thankful. I have a lot of good people around me and the club has a lot of good people. I’m so happy that many people have been part of this journey with me.”
