In a stunning display of football, Ollie Watkins, with his hat-trick, led Aston Villa to a resounding 6-1 victory over Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday. Watkins’ double strike in the first half and Pervis Estupinan’s own goal gave Villa a three-goal lead at half-time.
Ansu Fati scored for Brighton in the second half, but Watkins completed his hat-trick, further solidifying his case for an England call-up.
Jacob Ramsey and Douglas Luiz added to Villa’s tally, rounding off their biggest win this season.
Villa had no trouble dispatching Brighton with a three-goal blitz in the first half.
Watkins opened the scoring for Villa 14 minutes into the game after a well-placed pass from John McGinn to Matty Cash set up Watkins for his fifth goal of the season.
His second goal came just seven minutes later as he skillfully maneuvered past two Brighton defenders before firing a low shot past Jason Steele.
Fati managed to pull one back for Brighton early in the second half, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Watkins completed his hat-trick with a deflected shot. Ramsey and Luiz added further goals towards the end of the match to complete Villa’s dominant performance.
