As a build up to his forthcoming concert, multiple-award winning street rap musician, Olamide Badoo Adedeji has pointed out how the late pioneer Yoruba street rap star Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, Dagrin prophesied about him.
Olamide who recently announced thatthe third edition if his annual concert, Olamide Live In Concert (OLIC 3) will be holding on December 26, 2016 indicated on Thursday that Dagrin had made the prophesy a long time before now.
Olamide posted a photo of the late rapper in which he was wearing a t-shirt inscribed with OLIC, the acronym for Olamide’s concert. Actually, the shirt Dagrin wore in the picture carried the inscription POLICE, but the waistcoat he wore on it covered the first and last letters, “P” and “E”.
“Smh mood,” Olamide simply wrote as the picture’s caption.
Dagrin died on April 22, 2010. He was just 22 years old, but his unique style of rap music was already very popular. He died from the injuries sustained from his a lone accident, colliding with a stationary articulated vehicle in front of Alakara Police Station, off Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos.
Before he gave up his ghost, He had first been treated at Tai Solarin Hospital, Mushin but was later transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, where doctors declared him dead after efforts to save his life failed.
Though he lived a short life, his style of rap is still influencing the music scene. Artistes like Olamide, lil Kesh, Phyno, Reminisce and many others are some of the best examples of Dagrin’s influence on the Nigerian rap scene.
