Rapper Oladips has publicly accused Afrobeats star Wizkid of copying his lyrics in a song from Asake’s latest album, “MMS.”
This controversy comes after Wizkid featured on Asake’s album, which was recently released.
Oladips, whose real name is Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, claims that Wizkid’s verse in the song is very similar to lines from his own 2022 single, “Ajala Traveller.”
Oladips posted screenshots on social media comparing his lyrics with Wizkid’s verse. His lyrics from “Ajala Traveller” say, “I had to lose myself to find my purpose.” Meanwhile, Wizkid’s lyrics in the album are: “Lost Myself, and I found my purpose.”
Oladips questioned, “Recycling Or Coincidence @wizkidayo,” and added, “It’s normal if you acknowledge the source! No be say dem go dey pretend like say dem no know you but come dey bite your lyrics for corner.”
Wizkid has not yet responded to these accusations.
In November 2023, Oladips faced a separate controversy when his management team mistakenly announced his death.
The announcement was made via Instagram, causing a wave of condolences. However, Oladips later clarified that he was alive and well.
Fellow rapper Qdot Alagbe was also involved, as he posted about Oladips being alive, which Oladips later criticized for “misleading everyone.”
