Ogun to prosecute DJ Chicken over repeated road crashes

The Ogun State Ministry of Justice says it will prosecute TikTok creator Ademola Abiodun, widely known as DJ Chicken, following a series of road crashes linked to him in recent weeks.

The ministry announced the move on Monday in a statement posted on its official X page, noting that his repeated involvement in traffic accidents has raised serious concerns about public safety.

Abiodun was first involved in a crash on November 1 in Sagamu, Ogun State, where he reportedly rammed into two motorcycles. The incident left a rider and a female passenger with severe injuries. Witnesses told officials that he attempted to flee the scene before being stopped by onlookers.

According to the ministry, another crash occurred on Sunday in the Lekki area of Lagos State, during which Abiodun narrowly missed hitting pedestrians. This marked his third reported road incident in two months.

The ministry said, “Mr Abiodun’s heedless return to the wheel with no greater care just three weeks after makes it imperative that the state must intervene to protect the public, especially as there is an organic outcry against his continued driving.”

It added that while traffic collisions are often handled as civil matters, some drivers pose a special threat to the public and must be held accountable under criminal law.

To ensure accountability, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, has directed relevant officers to speed up action on the pending Sagamu crash case so the suspect can be arraigned without delay.

The ministry said it remains committed to working with security agencies to safeguard the public from reckless drivers.
