The Rector of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, Dr. Mobolaji Onasanya, has cautioned newly admitted students against distractions that could derail their academic progress.

Speaking during the matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session, where 3,175 students were officially admitted, Onasanya urged them to steer clear of vices such as cultism, prostitution, examination malpractice, and drug abuse, warning that these could jeopardise their future.

“The matriculation marks the beginning of a solemn covenant during which students pledge an oath binding them to abide by the rules, regulations, and ideals of the institution,” he said.

He acknowledged that the academic journey ahead would be challenging but rewarding and encouraged the students to remain diligent and focused.

Onasanya also used the occasion to appeal to the Ogun State Government for increased funding support to accelerate the institution’s development.
