Ogun patient flees hospital over unpaid bills
The Ogun State Police Command is actively searching for a patient of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba Abeokuta, identified as Saba Elizabeth.
Ms. Elizabeth reportedly fled the hospital on Saturday, December 2, 2023, due to her inability to settle her medical bills after receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
According to PUNCH Online, Elizabeth was admitted to the gynecology ward on November 11, 2023, and was scheduled for discharge on November 16, 2023.
However, she was unable to leave due to the outstanding medical expenses.
Faced with the financial burden, Elizabeth allegedly deceived hospital staff by claiming she was going to a nearby store to purchase food. She never returned to the facility.
Following unsuccessful attempts to locate Elizabeth, the FMC’s Chief Security Officer, Akpoji Joshua, reported the matter to the Kemta Police Division on Sunday.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that the Kemta Division is assisting the hospital in locating the absconded patient.
“We are investigating to unravel her whereabouts through her family members,” Odutola stated.
