The Ogun State Government has declared a N50 million reward for individuals providing information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators involved in the killing of the former Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi attached to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s office.

Oyekanmi, a 51-year-old chartered accountant, was fatally shot by gunmen on Wednesday, November 29, at the Kuto Flyover Bridge, Abeokuta.

The incident occurred as he, alongside two others, was returning to the Governor’s Office with a substantial amount of money withdrawn from two major commercial banks in Abeokuta.

The assailants intercepted the victims, fatally shot Oyekanmi, an indigene of Ifonyintedo, and fled with the sizable sum of cash.

Expressing his dismay, Governor Dapo Abiodun stated, “The killing of the senior civil servant left his cabinet devastated and traumatized.” He vowed to spare no effort in ensuring that the perpetrators face justice for their actions.

In an official statement released on Friday, the state government announced the N50 million reward for anyone providing information that aids security agents in apprehending the killers. The statement emphasized the confidentiality of the information provided.

The statement reads, “Ogun State Government has announced a reward of N50m for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of the state’s Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, on 30th November, 2023, in Abeokuta. Information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
