A community leader, Tajudeen Omotayo, who was abducted in Imope town, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun state has been set free.

The PUNCH reports that Omotayo, popularly called Alademeta, regained his freedom on Tuesday night, four days after he was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Although Omotayo’s ransom was set at N100 million by the abductors, it is unknown if the family paid the abductors to secure his release.

Omotayo’s abduction, according to reports, was carried out on Saturday while coming back from a meeting from Ijebu-Ode.

He was reportedly accosted at Oke -Eri area of Imope, pulled out and taken him away to an unknown destination, leaving his vehicle on the Ijebu–Ode–Oru–Ibadan Road.

In another development, WuzupNigeria reported that the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (Cross River chapter), Benedict Ukpepi, was abducted by gunmen on Sunday.

Although the police have vowed that they “are working to rescue him,” the organised labour, comprising the NLC, the Trade Union Congress and other affiliate unions, have threatened a strike if the kidnapped state chairman of NLC, Ukpepi was not released unharmed in the next 24 hours.

The level of insecurity in the country has become alarming, including the unchecked activities of terrorists, bandits, criminal herdsmen, and internet scammers.
