A commercial motorcyclist, Olusola Adetayo, was found dead near his home in Ogere, Ogun State, after he went out to purchase medicine for his ailing daughter.

The incident, which occurred on October 16, has left his wife, Mobolaji Adetayo, and their three children in distress.

Narrating the tragic incident on Monday, Mobolaji explained that her husband left around 8 p.m. that evening to buy drugs for one of their children who was unwell.

After two hours without his return and being unable to reach him on his phone, she became worried and set out to look for him.

“On October 16, he went out at about 8 p.m. to get drugs for one of our children who was having stomach upset. After about an hour and a half, he did not return home. I called his line, but he wasn’t picking up, and eventually, the line was switched off,” Mobolaji recounted.

Accompanied by their children, Mobolaji discovered her husband’s lifeless body near a bush, just a short distance from their home.

His motorcycle, mobile phone, and a small bag he had with him were missing. “When we found him, his body was battered with bruises on his face and blood oozing out from his body,” she added.

Mobolaji has urged the authorities to investigate her husband’s murder, citing recent cases of motorcycle snatching and violent attacks by unknown assailants in the area.

“I want the authority to bring the killers of my husband to justice because he is the only one I have, and he is the one taking care of our three children,” she said.

She expressed fear for her own safety, adding, “I am scared to even stay at home because I don’t know if his assailants may come for me too.”

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, had not yet commented on the incident as of the time of this report.

However, a senior police officer in the area, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the case, stating that while police requested to take Adetayo’s body for investigation, the family opted to proceed with immediate burial.

“The incident happened close to Ogere. Police operatives visited the scene and requested to take the body for necessary action, but the family insisted that they want to bury the corpse,” the officer disclosed.
