The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has announced the suspension of former governor and current senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, over alleged anti-party conduct.
Also suspended is a party chieftain, Kunle Folarin. The decision was ratified on Tuesday by the State Working Committee following recommendations from disciplinary panels in their respective wards.
According to a statement issued by the party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, the suspension of both party members stemmed from investigations carried out by disciplinary panels set up by Ward 4 and Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government Area, where Daniel and Folarin are registered members.
The APC stated that both men were invited to appear before the panels to respond to the allegations but failed to honour the summons or submit any written responses.
In their absence, the panels proceeded with witness testimonies and reviewed documentary evidence.
The party also alleged that Daniel and Folarin made attempts to disrupt the investigative process by intimidating witnesses and pressuring individuals to retract petitions filed against them.
The SWC, led by Chief Yemi Sanusi, reviewed the panels’ findings and approved the indefinite suspension of the two party members. The committee emphasized that the decision was aimed at preserving the party’s integrity and upholding internal discipline.
“The suspensions were based on their refusal to cooperate with the investigation and attempts to interfere with the process. The party remains committed to maintaining discipline and enforcing its constitution,” the statement read.
