The family of late Nollywood veteran Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced plans to hold a 40th-day prayer in his honour.
Kira Taiwo, daughter of the late actor, announced the gathering on Instagram on Wednesday. She invited family members, friends and well-wishers to attend.
The prayer session is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.
The event will begin at 12 noon.
Family honours Ogogo’s memory
The invitation poster featured a portrait of the late actor alongside the inscription: “You are invited to the 40 days prayer for Alh. Al-Hassan Babatunde Taiwo ‘Ogogo.’”
The gathering is expected to bring together members of Ogogo’s family, colleagues, associates and other well-wishers to honour his memory.
Ogogo was buried at the same location on August 24, a day after his death at the age of 66.
Ogogo remembered after four-decade career
The actor died on August 23, 2026, after a career spanning more than four decades in the Yoruba film industry.
Ogogo built a strong following through his performances in numerous Yoruba-language films. As a result, he became one of the most recognisable faces in the industry.
The upcoming prayer gathering forms part of activities by his family and loved ones to remember his life and legacy.
The session will be held in line with the family’s Islamic observance following his death.
