Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, widely known as Odumodublvck, has alleged that many of his peers in the entertainment industry are envious of his growing success and recognition.
Speaking on an episode of the Toronto Ada’s Room podcast, the rapper addressed criticisms surrounding his lyrical abilities, claiming that such narratives are rooted in jealousy.
According to him, the perception that he lacks lyrical talent does not reflect his achievements, especially on the international stage.
“In Nigeria, they say that my rap is not good but I’m the most featured rapper by international artists. I think it’s a thing of envy because I sing my hooks, my songs are hits, and I get more bookings than them,” Odumodublvck said.
The ‘Pity This Boy’ crooner argued that he has surpassed most Nigerian rappers in terms of international recognition and commercial performance. He also pointed out that his ability to both rap and sing sets him apart from many of his contemporaries, which he believes contributes to the resentment he faces.
He challenged those who claim to be more talented to back it up with results. “The envy is deep especially when they think they are better. But we pay no mind to that. We just continue pushing for those that believe let them continue to tune in. It’s very unfortunate for the people on the other side because this thing is not going to stop soon,” he added.
Odumodublvck remains confident that his growing fan base and continued success speak louder than the criticism, affirming his focus remains on those who support his music.
