Bishop Mathew Kukah of Sokoto Catholic Diocese on Sunday breezed into the Omole residence of Dr Joe Okei -Odumakin, widow of late Afenifere Spokesman, Mr Yinka Odumakin on a condolence visit.

The former activist and Afenifere image-maker, died on April 2 at the age of 54, after a brief illness.

After some soothing words of consolation and encouragement to the widow, Kukah wrote in the condolence register, โ€œWe will remember you not with tears but with joy and hope.

โ€œIn a short time that you joined the race for a democratic Nigeria, you logged on so many miles.

โ€œThe journey goes on and the road is better and clearer because of the footprints you left behind as a light to a new generation.

โ€œThe future is in the Lordโ€™s hands. Itโ€™s ours to build.โ€

The priest also prayed with the widow, who is also the President of Women Arise, her children and family that the peace of God would not depart from them.

โ€œMay God receive Yinka mercifully and give him rest.โ€œI pray for Joe, the children and all of us who loved you so dearly, peace be with you,โ€ Kukah prayed.

Shortly before he announced his exit, Bishop Kukah presented a portrait of the ‘Virgin Mary and Infant Jesus’ to the widow.
