Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has applauded the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their courage and determination despite their defeat to Morocco in the semi-finals of the AFCON 2025 tournament.
Obi gave the commendation in a statement shared on his 𝕏 account, where he said the Nigerian players demonstrated resilience and strength in the face of adversity and fought until the final whistle.
He praised the Super Eagles for maintaining their composure despite the loss and reminded them that they still have an opportunity to secure a third-place finish in the competition.
“Dearest gallant Super Eagles, it was a battle well fought and heads were not bowed.
“Thank you for a beautiful 120 minutes of incredible play. You showed your strength and prowess against all odds.
“The journey is not over. You have made the nation proud. Keep your heads high, the Eagle never stops soaring.
“There is another stage, let’s go get that medal.
“You have done well.-PO,” he wrote.
