Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Super Eagles of Nigeria following their triumphant victory over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final stage of the African Cup of Nations.

In a statement issued Wednesday night by his Special Adviser (Media Project), Crusoe Osagie, the Governor commended the Super Eagles for their remarkable performance.

The Nigerian team emerged victorious with a 4-2 penalty shootout win after the match ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

“The Super Eagles exhibited exceptional skills, resilience, strength, and determination throughout the match, earning a well-deserved place in the finals of the competition,” stated Governor Obaseki. “With just inches away from securing their fourth continental trophy, we are confident that they will return home with the laurel. Congratulations, champs!”

The state government had previously opened free viewing centers across various locations, including Eguare, Okhuesan, Esan South East, and the hometown of Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, to allow football enthusiasts to savor the excitement of the match.
