A host of Nigeria’s prominent political figures gathered at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja for the launch of an autobiography authored by former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido.
The event drew key personalities, underscoring Lamido’s enduring influence within the nation’s political landscape.
Among the high-profile attendees were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Former Vice President Namadi Sambo was also present, along with former Senate Presidents Ken Nnamani and Pius Anyim.
Their presence highlighted the significance of the occasion and Lamido’s longstanding role in Nigerian politics.
The autobiography, titled Being True to Myself, is set to be reviewed by former Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, according to reports by The Punch.
The book chronicles Lamido’s personal and political journey, offering insights into his contributions to governance and party politics in Nigeria.
Governors from across Nigeria also turned up for the launch. These included Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang. Former Governors Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Ahmed Makarfi (Kaduna), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Liyel Imoke (Cross River) were also in attendance, adding further weight to the event.
Confirming his presence at the ceremony, Atiku Abubakar posted on his X handle, @atiku: “I just arrived at the NAF Centre in Abuja for the launch and public presentation of a book titled: ‘Being True to Myself’ by my good friend and associate, the former Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Sule Lamido.”
The book launch served not only as a literary occasion but also as a gathering of Nigeria’s political elite, reflecting both Lamido’s stature and the interconnected nature of the country’s political leadership.
