Obama regrets snubbing Dolly Parton for Presidential Medal of Freedom

Former US President, Barrack Obama has revealed regrets at not awarding Dolly Parton Presidential Medal of Freedom during his tenure.

According to the A Promised Land author, “deserves” the prestigious honour for all her humanitarian and philanthropic work, including her contribution in funding COVID-19 vaccine.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an award bestowed by the president of the United States to recognize people who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavours.”

Speaking during an appearance on America’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Obama admitted that the snub was a mistake.

“That’s a mistake – I’m shocked. That was a screw up. I’m surprised. I think I assumed that she had already got one, and that was incorrect.”

“She deserves one… I’ll call Biden,” Obama said joking about encouraging his former Vice President Joe Biden – the new President-elect – to right his wrong.

Some notable names who have received the honour are Oprah Winfrey, Sidney Poitier, Muhammad Ali, and Tiger Woods.[Music News]
