Ibadan is preparing for a historic celebration as Oba Rasidi Ladoja will be officially crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025.

The Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has given his approval for the coronation, which will take place at the famous Mapo Hall in the heart of the city.

A state delegation had earlier visited Oba Ladoja at his Bodija residence on Wednesday to confirm the government’s backing for the event.

Speaking with newsmen, the monarch’s media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, said, “Oba Ladoja will be enthroned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, 26 September 2025.”

Before the confirmation, Oba Ladoja had met privately with the kingmakers at his Old Bodija residence on Tuesday. The meeting, which lasted for about two hours, was the first since his return after the passing of the last Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

The upcoming ceremony is expected to draw traditional rulers, political leaders, and residents from across Oyo State and beyond, as the ancient city gets ready to welcome its new royal father.
