Students of Obafemi Awolowo University have cried out over the forceful eviction of female students by the management of the school from their hostels.

Officials of the schools began to throw the luggage of students out of Moremi hall after a short notice was issued 24 hours earlier.

The officials also sealed the doors of the rooms afterwards, Premium Times reports.

Some students including student activists and journalists were reportedly manhandled.

The secretary of the Anti Neo-liberal attacks against Students Association, Gbenga Oloniran, and a female student was reportedly arrested by the security unit of the university.

Some students of the university also posted the videos of the unfair treatment meted out to them by officials of the school management.

The students claimed that they were harassed and manhandled by the security officers of the University in a bid to eject them on a short notice.

Reinstate Omole Andothers posted on his Facebook page

“moremieviction: These are video footages of how the OAU management with the help of hired policemen forcefully evicts female students from Moremi hall. They were beaten, molested and dragged by the men into a waiting police van which took them to an unknown location outside the university. About ten students were forced into the van and driven away while some claimed a student who is in a critical health condition was amongst the arrested students. among the arrested students are: Gbenga Von, comrade ideal, afoo revo, proficient and some yet to be identified students

“it should be noted that students have stayed back on campus, not because they are comfortable with harsh living conditions, but a necessity of fulfilling academic programmes recognised by the school curriculum, such as SWEP, teaching practice, projects and many others.

please, help broadcast this injustice to the world

“Some students of the Obafemi Awolowo University have been arrested at Moremi hall for resisting the forceful eviction of students.

Some of the arrested students are Gbenga VON, Afoo Revo, ideal, proficient, johnny( faculty rep of TESA part two) and some other yet-to-be-identified ladies.

It was claimed that a critically-sick lady was part of the arrested students.while the security men promised to come back powerfully and evict AWO and FAJ residents.

“The police officers have refused to grant the release bail of the arrested students with claims that they are acting on an *order from above*.

According to D.P.O, the reason for the refusal is because the vice-chancellor has made actions to file a lawsuit against the arrested students.

Some lawyers representing the school were at the police to get details of the students in order to complete the law charge.

Students were even denied entry into the police station with claims that they have closed for the day and can’t attend to anybody,”

The school vacated February 17 but students writing their final year projects and those undergoing their SIWES and Teaching Practice (TP) programmes are still on campus.
