The National Youth Service Corps has announced that corps members will begin receiving a new monthly allowance of N77,000 starting February 2025.

According to ARISETV, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, confirmed the development while addressing the
2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina on Thursday.

He assured them that the new allowance had already been captured in the
2025 Federal Government budget and would take effect once the budget is passed.

“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he said.

With the increased allowance, Ahmed encouraged corps members to show dedication and commitment during their service year.

He emphasized that the government’s decision to raise their stipend reflected its recognition of their contributions to national development.

Beyond the allowance increment, the NYSC DG also reassured corps members of their safety and welfare throughout their service year.

He emphasized that the NYSC would not deploy corps members to areas with security threats, adding that every posting would be carefully assessed for safety.

“We will not send our corps members to wherever we have challenges of security threats. Wherever we send them, they should be rest assured that the place is safe and secured for them to serve,” Ahmed stated.
