Embattled Lagos corper, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, has issued a public apology to Lagosians and those affected by her viral video criticizing the economic state of the country and alleging a foul smell in Lagos.

Raye had stirred conversations online after sharing her experience in Lagos, Nigeria.

In a series of posts, she apologized to Lagos residents for comments she made about the state’s atmosphere and quality of air, which some interpreted as criticism.

“I want to first of all state that ‘I AM SORRY’ to the people who were born and raised in Lagos if you feel offended by what I said,” she wrote, clarifying that her words were not meant to demean the state but rather to highlight her observations as a visitor.

She further expressed concerns about the cost of living, revealing that despite working over 45 hours a week, she struggles to afford basic leisure activities such as hanging out with friends.

She noted that many people face the same challenge, working tirelessly but barely being able to enjoy life.

“I want better for myself. (And I hope you do too),” she stated, urging people to demand improvements in their living conditions.

Her post has sparked discussions about economic realities in Lagos, with some agreeing with her views, while others defended the city’s vibrancy.

She concluded by encouraging people to remain committed to seeking better opportunities, saying, “If we stay committed to asking for better, we will get better.”
