The National Youth Service Corps has announced that married female corps members will no longer need to change their maiden name to their spouse’s name to be eligible for redeployment.
This was disclosed in a circular signed by the NYSC Director of Corps Mobilisation, Abubakar Mohammed, and sent to state and FCT coordinators.
The circular, dated November 25, 2024, titled “Review of Criteria for Concessional Deployment/Relocation for Married Female Corps Members,” confirmed the management’s approval of the change.
It stated, “Changing a maiden name to that of a spouse is no longer a requirement for the approval of such request by married female corps members. Other requirements remain as they were.”
NYSC also instructed state and FCT coordinators to comply strictly with the directive, while directors in area offices were tasked with monitoring its implementation.
