NYCN sets up COVID-19 response team in Kwara
The Kwara chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has set up a COVID-19 response team to check the influx of people into the state.
The council, while commending the government for effectively tackling the spread of the virus in the state, said that the team would complement the anti-coronavirus committee constituted by Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The state Chairman of NYCN, Alli Nasiru-Yusuf told newsmen in Ilorin after the inauguration of the team on Thursday that the primary target of the council was to manage the boundaries with the neighboring states.
“The constitution of the Kwara Youth Response Team is primarily to complement the anti-coronavirus efforts of the state government.
“This team has a great task to accomplish. The group’s target is our boundaries with the neighboring states,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Raphael Adeoti, described the initiative of the youth as a welcome development.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Mamman Jubril, while commending the efforts of the youth, also reiterated the government’s support to the committee.
Also, the state Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mrs. Joanna Kolo, described the committee as timely, saying that it would complement the efforts of the state government in fighting the deadly virus.
