The gaffe on a banner put up on a Lagos highway by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has continued to spark hilarious reactions among social media users.

The photo of the banner emerged on social media on Thursday and has since gone viral on micro-blogging site Twitter. The social media remains what it is and jokes must be added to almost every topic no matter how serious it is.

On the banner were photos of NURTW National President, Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa, Lagos State Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo and two other branch leaders in Lagos Mainland West.

Since MC Oluomo and Baruwa emerged State Chairman and National President respectively, several congratulatory banners have adorned all motor parks and bus stops in Lagos as branch leaders print banners with their photos beside the photos of the new leaders to rejoice with them and restate their loyalty.

It is gathered that the practice is seen as a sign of loyalty to the new leadership so that the branch chairmen could be allowed to continue to hold their positions.

One of such banners stood out among thousands of others that have been placed in different parts of Lagos.

NURTW leaders in Mainland West like their counterparts in other parts of the State had put up the banner to congratulate MC Oluomo and Baruwa for their new leadership positions but two blunders on the banner made it an internet sensation.

The inscription on the banner read:

“National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mainland West Branch rejoice with our leader & Menthol.

“Wishing U successful.”

So the banner made it to social media and has provided social media users with some sort of comic relief as they couldn’t help but poke fun at the blunders.
