The National Universities Commission has approved four new full-time undergraduate programmes for Lagos State University under the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology.

The Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations at LASU, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, confirmed the approval in a statement on Tuesday. She said the new courses would help strengthen LASU’s role in technology-driven education.

She explained that the approval came through a letter dated November 3 and signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the NUC Executive Secretary. Thomas-Onashile said, “The approval follows a recent resource verification visit by experts who checked the human and material resources available for the programmes.”

According to her, the four programmes will take effect from the 2025 to 2026 academic session. She listed them as B.Sc. Cyber Security, B.Sc. Software Engineering, B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology, and B.Sc. Data Science.

She also said the approval is currently for full-time studies only. Thomas-Onashile added that the move reaffirms LASU’s commitment to training skilled graduates who can thrive in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
