NSCDC seizes stolen railway tracks hidden under chicken feed bags

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Bauchi State Command, has intercepted a truck conveying vandalised railway tracks and arrested five suspects linked to the crime.

The command disclosed this in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Friday.

According to the statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusuf, the interception followed credible intelligence.

Yusuf said NSCDC operatives, while on patrol along the Miri–Jos Road on January 12, 2026, intercepted a long vehicle truck around Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.

He explained that the truck, with registration number MDB 360 XA, was allegedly heading to the eastern part of the country and was loaded with vandalised railway tracks and slippers, concealed with bags of chicken feed to evade detection.

“At the receipt of intelligence on January 12, 2026, NSCDC personnel intercepted a truck conveying vandalised railway tracks, disguised with bags of chicken feed and slippers,” Yusuf said.

He added that efforts were ongoing to arrest the alleged owner and mastermind of the operation, identified as Mr John, as well as the truck driver, Auwal, who are currently at large.

The suspects arrested are Adam Kolo, 42, from Borno State; Samuel Musa, 44, from Yobe State; Solomon Jankaro, 40, from Niger State; Emmanuel Collins, 26, from Enugu State; and Sunday David, 20, also from Enugu State.

Recovered exhibits include 80 pieces of vandalised railway tracks, five pairs of slippers, bags of chicken feed, one long vehicle truck and a Lexus RX 330 with registration number BWR 60 DN.

In a related development, Yusuf disclosed that one Nura Abdullahi of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi metropolis, was arrested on January 14, 2026, for alleged motorcycle theft.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that Abdullahi confessed to buying stolen motorcycles from two other suspects within Bauchi State and selling eight of them to Abdul Abdullahi Magaji in Gindiri, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, with an estimated value of ₦2.02 million.

Yusuf noted that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover the remaining exhibits.

Commending his personnel, the State Commandant, Oloyede Nelson, praised their commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure.

Nelson reiterated the NSCDC’s resolve to rid Bauchi State of vandals and other criminal elements, warning perpetrators to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

He also urged residents, especially those living near public infrastructure, to provide timely and credible information to security agencies whenever they notice suspicious movements.
