NSCDC redeploys Fagge divisional officer over suspect’s death in Kano custody

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has redeployed the Divisional Officer in charge of the Fagge Division following the death of a suspect while in custody.

The State Commandant of the corps, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, approved the redeployment of the divisional officer, SC Amina Musa Kolawole, and appointed CSC Bashir Isa Abubakar as her replacement.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the decision followed the constitution of a panel of inquiry to probe the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death.

It added that, “All officers and men on duty on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, including the divisional officer in question, have been transferred to the Nigerian Police, Kano State Command for further investigation and necessary actions.”

The NSCDC appealed to the public to remain calm, while reaffirming its commitment to the protection of life, respect for human rights, and the promotion of professionalism, integrity and adherence to the rule of law.
