The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano State has deployed 3,400 personnel to ensure security during the planned protests in the state.
In a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mohammad Falala, said the security team would cover the protests before, during, and after the events.
Falala explained, “The command has put measures in place to ensure that residents can participate in the protest peacefully, without threats to their lives or property.”
He added that the NSCDC is collaborating with other security agencies to ensure a smooth and crisis-free protest both inside and outside the city of Kano.
“An operational order has been issued to Area Commanders and Divisional Officers across the 44 Local Government Areas to provide security at public buildings such as markets, banks, churches, mosques, recreation centres, and motor parks,” Falala said.
The commandant assured residents of their safety, stating that the security personnel would cover the protesters. However, he warned that any actions causing confusion during the protest would not be tolerated. “Those who disobey orders will be arrested and prosecuted,” he cautioned.
