The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has stationed 2,807 personnel across key locations in Katsina State in preparation for the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, scheduled for today, Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
The deployment was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the NSCDC Commandant in Katsina State, Aminu Datti.
According to Datti, the move follows a directive from the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, aimed at maintaining peace and security throughout the burial proceedings.
“We have deployed 2,807 operatives across Daura, the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, the palaces of the Emir of Katsina and Daura, and other critical locations,” Datti stated.
He outlined the Corps’ approach to ensuring security during the ceremony, including surveillance, intelligence operations, community liaison, and inter-agency cooperation.
“Our personnel, both covert and overt, have been instructed to ensure the safety of all government facilities and to maintain law and order before, during, and after the burial,” he added.
Datti also called on NSCDC department heads, commanders, and special units to collaborate effectively and uphold high standards of conduct while on duty.
“Coordination and synergy are critical. All officers must carry out their duties with utmost professionalism and work closely with other security agencies to guarantee watertight security,” he stressed.
