NSCDC arrests three vandals, cable thieves in Abuja

Three men have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps FCT Command for allegedly stealing communication cables belonging to the government.
The suspects were caught near House on the Rock Church Junction, Airport Road in the FCT with fiber cables that they had vandalized
The NSCDC FCT Command said in a statement on Sunday that the suspects pretended to be engineers working on cable projects, but intelligence reports exposed them.
The civil defense patrol team apprehended them while disconnecting the wave guard from the mast’s antenna and dismantling it.
The FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, condemned the FCT’s vandalism and destruction of infrastructure and promised to intensify the fight against criminals and vandals.
He said that the suspects would be prosecuted according to the law and warned others to stay away from Abuja.
“These 3 suspects vandalised and carted away fibre cables but unfortunately for them, the eagle eyed men of my patrol teams averted their plans.
“We shall deal decisively with them according to the extant laws to serve as deterrent to others,” Odumosu said.
The arrested suspects are Peter Kile, “M”, 27-years-old from Vandeikya local government; Akanuge Sammel, “M”, 27-year-old from and Justin Tundu, “M”, 31-year-old both Konshisha local government, all from Benue State.
The NDSCDC said they will be handed over for prosecution after undergoing thorough investigations.
The Commandant also commended the collaboration and synergy with other security agencies in the FCT and the policy directions of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on security and development.
He said the NSCDC has keyed into his vision for better service delivery to all residents.
