The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested six suspects for alleged crimes, including cable vandalism and motorcycle theft, in various parts of Kano.

The Public Relations Officer for NSCDC in Kano, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Thursday.

Three of the suspects, identified as Lawan Ahmed from Unguwa Uku Quarters, Ahmad Yusuf from Kawo Quarters, and Mujahid Kabiru from Kofar Waika, were arrested in Na’ibawa Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area. They are accused of vandalizing and stealing high-value transformer cables in the area. “Unfortunately for them, they were apprehended along with individuals who were receiving the stolen cables,” Abdullahi said.

He added, “The command has since launched an investigation into the case to make further arrests of individuals linked to the syndicate.”

In a related operation, the NSCDC also arrested three suspects accused of motorcycle theft. Two suspects, Abdulrazaq Umar, 30, from Sharada Ja’en, and Aminu Shehu Muhammad, 42, from Janbulo Quarters, were reportedly caught attempting to unlock a motorcycle parked at a plaza on Unity Road. They are believed to be part of a larger syndicate that specializes in motorcycle theft across Kano.

The third suspect, Musa Ibrahim, 30, was arrested in Kwanar Gafan, Garun Malam Local Government Area. According to Abdullahi, “The suspect disassembled the bike’s key and stole it in Kwanar Garko, Garko Local Government Area, before his eventual arrest by NSCDC operatives.”

All six suspects are now in the custody of the NSCDC’s investigation department. “Upon completion of investigations, they will all be charged in court,” Abdullahi stated.
