The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested four suspects linked to banditry, kidnapping, and fraud in Nasarawa State.

The arrest is part of an ongoing operation targeting fleeing members of terrorist groups across the country.

The NSCDC Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, working with other security agencies, carried out the operation. Three of the suspects were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and are being investigated for gunrunning, kidnapping, and banditry.

According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, the suspects, identified as Umar Ibrahim, Nura Abubakar, and Mohammed Sule, were arrested at Ukoso Komva Ward in Wamba Local Government Area.

“The operatives recovered two automatic rifles with three magazines, an AK-47 with 15 live rounds, one FN rifle with two live rounds, a live cartridge, nine locally made pistols, a bayonet, and two pairs of Nigerian Forest Security Services uniforms,” Afolabi said.

In a separate operation, the squad arrested 62-year-old Felix Clerkson for job racketeering. Afolabi said, “Preliminary investigations led to the recovery of over 120 fake NSCDC appointment letters from him.”

Felix was arrested in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area after a tip-off. He admitted to defrauding unsuspecting victims of over 26 million naira.

“Our ongoing investigation revealed that the suspect has swindled his victims of up to 55 million naira, part of which he shared with accomplices who are currently at large,” Afolabi added.

All suspects will be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
