The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa State Command, has confirmed the arrest of 27 individuals over their alleged involvement in cult-related activities in Lafia, the state capital.

Commandant Bappa Abbas Muhammed shared this information while parading the suspected cult members.

He also revealed that the arrests were made in response to an escalation in cult-related incidents, resulting in one fatality and another person sustaining injuries from a machete attack.

Expressing concern over the growing rate of cultism across the state, particularly in Lafia, Muhammed emphasized that the NSCDC had initiated a new security strategy to combat this menace.

“We are deeply troubled by the increasing rate of cultism across the 13 local government areas of the state, particularly in Lafia. However, the command has launched a new security strategy to tackle the ugly menace,” Muhammed stated.

He further assured that those arrested would be promptly charged to court for prosecution, underscoring the commitment of the NSCDC to maintaining law and order in the state.
