The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced that the Warri–Itakpe train service will resume operations on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, after a temporary suspension.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Warri, Delta State, the corporation said the break in service was necessary to allow for key repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the track and rolling stock to ensure safety and comfort for passengers.
“The temporary suspension was necessary to carry out critical repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the track and rolling stock to ensure the comfort, reliability, and safety of passengers,” the statement read.
The NRC added that its online ticket booking platform will reopen by 12 noon on Monday, October 27, 2025, ahead of the resumption.
“Passengers are encouraged to secure their tickets early through the portal or at designated stations,” the statement said.
According to the management, the train will begin operations with seven coaches, including six standard class and one business class coach. A new timetable, which includes temporary speed restrictions for safety and monitoring, will also be released on Monday.
The corporation also expressed appreciation to passengers for their patience during the suspension.
“The corporation sincerely apologises to its esteemed passengers and stakeholders for the inconveniences experienced during the period of suspension and appreciates their patience and understanding,” it stated.
The Managing Director of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa, assured travelers of the corporation’s renewed commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient rail services.
He said, “We are fully ready to resume passenger operations on the Warri–Itakpe line, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest safety and service standards for all passengers.”
