NRC resumes movement of cattle from North to Lagos by train

After many years suspension, the Nigeria Railway Corporation seems to have resuscitated the transportation of cattle by rail with the movement of 500 cows and rams from Gusau in Zamfara State to Oko-Oba Abattoir in Agege area of Lagos via the Iju train station of the Lagos-Ibadan Train.

The 15-wagon train, which took off from Gusau at about 4.00am on Friday, arrived at the Iju Train Station at about 3:30pm on Saturday.

Sources said the train made a stop in Minna, Ibadan, and Ifo in Ogun State in the 36-hour trip as against the three days it usually takes to transport the cattle by road.
