The head coach of Nottingham Forest, Steve Cooper, has been dismissed from his position following a series of disappointing performances.
The team has suffered five defeats in their last six Premier League matches, including a 2-0 loss to Tottenham last Friday.
Breaking the news, Nottingham Forest in a statement on Tuesday wrote on X “Nottingham Forest confirms the departure of head coach Steve Cooper.
Everyone at Nottingham Forest would like to thank Steve for his superb contribution to our football club and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Cooper assumed the role in September 2021 when Nottingham Forest was at the bottom of the Championship. Despite the challenging start, he led the team to play-off success that season, securing victory over Huddersfield at Wembley in the final.
In the subsequent season, Cooper successfully maintained Forest in the Premier League, securing their status with a crucial 1-0 win against Arsenal in May.
During his tenure, there has been a significant influx of players into the squad as Forest returned to the top flight.
The frontrunner to replace Cooper at the City Ground is former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
According to SkySports, other names under consideration include former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui and ex-Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner.
