A notorious Boko Haram terrorist, Bochu Abacha, has surrendered to the Multinational Joint Task Force troops in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State.

This was revealed in a statement on Saturday by MNJTF’s Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba.

According to the statement, Bochu admitted to being involved in several Boko Haram and ISWAP operations along the Monguno-Baga axis in Borno State. “Bochu, a key figure in several terrorist operations, admitted to being a notorious Boko Haram terrorist who has participated in several Boko Haram/ISWAP operations,” the statement read.

Bochu explained that he surrendered due to the intensified military operations by the MNJTF and a loss of interest in continuing terrorist activities. He escaped from a Boko Haram camp in Mussaram, bringing with him his weapon.

Recovered from Bochu were an AK-47 rifle, a magazine with 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a mobile phone, an Airtel SIM card, and N32,500. He is currently providing valuable intelligence to the authorities.

In a related incident, Lieutenant Colonel Osoba reported that MNJTF troops, alongside intelligence operatives, ambushed Boko Haram terrorists transporting a large logistics supply in three Toyota vehicles near Gubio.

The troops, acting on an intelligence tip, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle. One terrorist was killed, while others fled into the forest, leaving behind the vehicles loaded with food and other supplies, along with N2,000.
