Veteran Nollywood actors and other members of the film industry have begun arriving in Ilaro, Ogun State, for the burial of celebrated Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan. He is popularly known as Ogogo.
According to The Punch, Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, Toyosi Adesanya, Ireti Osayemi and Bisi Omo Logbalogba were among colleagues who arrived on Monday morning for the funeral rites.
Colleagues gather to bid Ogogo farewell
The actors are expected to join family members, friends and residents for prayers and other ceremonies honouring the veteran performer.
Actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi also paid tribute to Ogogo ahead of the burial and prayed for him to attain Al-Jannah Firdaus.
Ogogo died on Sunday at the age of 66. Kosoko confirmed that the veteran actor passed away at about 3pm.
His remains were subsequently transported to his hometown in preparation for Monday’s burial.
Ogogo remembered after four-decade career
The Ilaro Muslim Community also announced arrangements for burial prayers at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground.
Ogogo’s death came shortly after his daughters publicly appealed for medical support as he battled stage-four cancer.
The veteran actor spent more than four decades in the Nigerian film industry. He became particularly renowned for his performances in Yoruba-language productions.
His death has triggered widespread tributes from entertainers, government officials and fans across Nigeria.
