Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Yoruba actress, Iya Ile Okan.

The news was confirmed by actor Kunle Afod, who shared the sad announcement on social media on Tuesday, October 14.

“We finally lost her. May her perfect soul continue to rest in peace. Iya Ile Okan. It’s a final wrap,” Afod wrote in a heartfelt message, expressing his sorrow over her passing.

Known for his consistent support and visits to aged actors in the Yoruba film industry, Afod had previously extended care to Iya Ile Okan on several occasions. In August, he visited her at her residence in Ogun State, where she opened up about her declining health and the challenges she faced, including a fall that resulted in ongoing medical expenses.

In the caption of a video from that visit, Afod had written, “Iya Ile Okan really needs God’s intervention,” shedding light on her condition and urging for support.

In a related gesture of compassion, Afod also recently visited veteran actress Iya Osogbo. During that visit, he presented a N2 million birthday gift from an anonymous donor. Iya Osogbo’s emotional response to the surprise gift touched many hearts and highlighted Afod’s continued efforts to support elderly figures in the industry.
