Popular Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has expressed shock over the newly adjusted fuel price at NNPC.

The actress, who took her to her X.com page on Tuesday to share a video of the new price, stated she was surprised when her driver shared information about the latest price.

She wrote, “Nnpc have adjusted their pump price now!! Posted as received just now! My driver just informed me that they stopped selling at Mobil to adjust pump price. This video confirms it all!
If the @nnpclimited is selling at N855, then it’s going to be double that elsewhere.”

Recall that NNPC’s spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, had declared that the national oil company was financially strained. As such, the pump prices of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, may rise above N1,000/liter in filling stations as the commodity cost in some private depots has been increased to between N920 and N950/liter.

However, the federal government, through the Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Oil) Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, in a statement released on Tuesday, said that no directive was issued to the Nigerian National Petroleum CompanyLimited to increase petroleum prices to N1,000.

He said, “The Federal Government has been compelled to address the outright falsehood and malicious claims currently circulating on social media.

“We categorically condemn these claims as baseless, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to incite public discontent.

“We challenge anyone in possession of any evidence-be written documents, audio, or video recordings-that supports these fabrications to make it public.

“Such a claim is entirely devoid of truth and should be recognized as an intentional effort to mislead the public.”
