Nollywood actor Azubuike Michael, popularly known as Zubby Michael, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress.
The actor registered as a member of the party on Saturday in his hometown, Ozubulu, Anambra State.
Confirming the development on his Instagram handle, Zubby Michael shared a video showing his registration and receipt of his ADC membership card.
“I dey my village, enough of the talking online, I don involve,” he wrote.
In a background remark captured in the video, the host was heard suggesting that the actor may be considering a political ambition, reportedly hinting at a House of Representatives seat. Speaking in Igbo, the host said: “We want someone who is hot-blooded, not someone cool, who will go for a House of Representatives seat.”
However, Zubby Michael has not confirmed any intention to contest for elective office.
The development comes amid a reported surge in new memberships in the ADC following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s recent decision concerning the party’s leadership structure.
ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said in a statement on his X handle on April 5 that the party’s membership had risen sharply, from over 40,000 registrations on April 2 to more than 500,000 new members between April 1 and the latest update.
