Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe is currently receiving medical treatment for internal bleeding following an incident on a movie set that involved fellow actor Zubby Michael.
The incident, which occurred during the filming of an undisclosed project, reportedly involved a kick to Nnadiekwe’s chest that was not scripted or directed. Nnadiekwe took to Instagram to share his experience, not to assign blame but to raise awareness about on-set safety in the Nigerian film industry.
“Just wanted to share an incident that happened on set a few days ago,” Nnadiekwe wrote. “This isn’t to call anyone out, but it’s a serious reminder that we need to prioritize each other’s safety on set. During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director.”
The actor explained that the impact caused significant pain and required medical treatment. He expressed concern over the lack of immediate assistance and highlighted the broader issue of insufficient safety measures and health insurance in Nollywood.
“When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences,” he said. “Let us all commit to sticking to the script and ensuring everyone feels safe and respected.”
He concluded with a plea for accountability and vigilance on film sets, saying, “Our health and safety are paramount. Our well-being should always come first.”
In a follow-up announcement, Nnadiekwe’s management confirmed the severity of the injury, revealing that he was rushed to the hospital after the incident and is now being treated for internal bleeding.
“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael,” the statement read.
The team assured fans that updates will be shared as his condition progresses and thanked supporters for their concern. “Keep Godwin in your thoughts,” the message concluded.
As of now, there has been no public response from Zubby Michael regarding the incident.
