Popular Nigerian actor and comedian, Black Camaru, has revealed that he is now broke and homeless, blaming his downfall on his struggles with alcohol and drugs.
In an interview with content creator Mrlilgaga, Black Camaru, whose real name is Kurunmi Ijaya, shared how he went from being a well-paid actor to losing everything.
He disclosed that he was paid N5 million for his role in the blockbuster movie “Gangs of Lagos,” where he starred alongside actors like Tobi Bakre, Adesua Etomi, and Chike.
Despite the huge paycheck, Black Camaru said his addiction to alcohol and smoking ruined him financially.
He admitted that his drinking habit contributed massively to his current situation.
“I used to be a well-paid actor. I was paid N5 million for my role in ‘Gangs of Lagos’, but my drinking habit has destroyed me,” he said. “It feels so bad to be homeless, very disgraceful.”
The comedian also narrated how some people took advantage of him, leaving him with nothing and forcing him into homelessness with his newborn child.
Black Camaru pleaded with Nigerians for help, asking for financial support and accommodation. He promised to quit drinking, saying he has learned his lesson.
“I regret being a drunkard. It has contributed to my downfall,” he said. “I have been to hell and back. Please, I need help.”
The once-viral sensation, known for his famous line “If I hold you in my hand, your blood will dry,” urged fans and well-wishers to support him during this difficult time.
