The Nigeria National League has expelled Abuja-based Sporting Supreme FC from the league and banned the club, its management and officials for five years over failure to honour two league matches.

The NNL announced the decision after Sporting Supreme FC failed to appear for two consecutive fixtures in the 2025/2026 season.

The matches involved an away fixture, Match Number 23 against Jigawa Golden Stars FC, and a Matchday 26 home game against Ranchers FC.

In a statement, the league said it activated relevant provisions of its rules following the club’s actions.

“Consequently, the Nigeria National League hereby activates articles 3.7, 14.9.1, 14.10 and 14.11.1 of the NNL rules and regulations,” the statement said.

The league added that Sporting Supreme FC had been fined N10m for failing to honour the fixtures.

“Sporting Supreme FC is hereby fined the sum of ten million naira (N10,000,000.00) only for not honouring their match day 6 and 7 fixtures respectively,” the NNL stated.

The league further announced the club’s immediate removal from the competition.

“That Sporting Supreme FC, having missed 2 consecutive league matches as shown in the above table, is hereby expelled from further participating in the Nigeria National League forthwith,” it said.

As a result of the expulsion, all matches involving the club this season have been voided.

“That consequent upon the item above, all Sporting Supreme FC matches played and unplayed are hereby cancelled, and all points for and against Sporting Supreme FC are hereby nullified,” the statement read.

The NNL also imposed a long-term ban on the club and its officials.

“In accordance with article 3.7 of NNL rule book, Sporting Supreme FC, Management and Officials are banned from participating in the NNL for a period of five years (5 years),” the league said.
