Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has reiterated his client’s innocence, asserting that he is not a terrorist.

Ejimakor emphasized Kanu’s strong support base, stating that “millions” of people are committed to his release. He pointed out that four courts, including the Court of Appeal and the United Nations, have issued rulings in favor of Kanu’s release and compensation, a fact that he believes underscores his innocence.

This truth is self-evident: A terrorist can never be awarded monetary compensation by 3 High Courts & unconditional release by the Court of Appeal & the United Nations,” Ejimakor declared via his X account on Tuesday. “He’s not a terrorist. He’s a leader of millions & legions who will never relent until he’s freed.

Kanu, who has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) since his rearrest in Kenya in 2021, has been ordered released by multiple courts.

However, the Nigerian government has defied these orders, keeping Kanu in custody despite his deteriorating health condition.

On Monday, IPOB accused the DSS of denying Kanu access to visitors, raising concerns about his well-being.
