The National Judicial Council under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice I. T. Muhammad has appointed 26 judges as justices of Court of Appeal and heads of court in Nigeria.

This was contained in a press statement signed by NJC Director of Information, Soji Oye, on Friday.

Oye stated that the decision, which was taken at the NJC’s 94th meeting held from 17 to 18 March, considered the list of candidates presented by its interview committee.

He further noted that the NJC consequently resolved to recommend the judges to President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the governors of Rivers, Nasarawa, Kogi, Jigawa, Ebonyi and Delta States.

“All recommended candidates are expected to be sworn-in after approval by the President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR and their respective State Governors and confirmation by the National Assembly and the respective States Houses of Assembly,” he said.
