Nine dead, eleven injured in Jigawa road crash

Nine people have died and eleven others were injured in a car accident that happened on Saturday afternoon in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The crash occurred around 2 pm and involved two Golf 3 cars that collided head-on. The police said both drivers were among the dead.

According to a statement from the Jigawa State Police Command, one of the vehicles, with plate number Kaduna MKA 687 AY, was driven by 35-year-old Adamu Sunusi from Hadejia. He was on his way to Gujungu from Abuja.

The second car, with registration number *KWL 606 KA*, was driven by 30-year-old Bashari Danjummai from the Sauna area of Nasarawa Local Government in Kano State. He was travelling from Hadejia to Kano.

Police spokesperson, Shiisu Adam, said officers from the Motor Traffic Department rushed to the scene after they got the report.

“The injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital for treatment,” he said.

He confirmed that nine people, including the two drivers, were declared dead by doctors after a post-mortem check.

“Eleven passengers are currently receiving treatment at the hospital and are responding well,” Adam added. “Efforts are underway to identify all victims and inform their families.”

The police said more information would be shared with the public as the investigation continues.
