NiMet predicts three days of sunshine, cloudiness from Monday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted a mix of sunshine and cloudiness from Monday to Wednesday across the country.

In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet forecast sunny and cloudy skies over the northern region throughout the three-day period.

The agency also predicted sunny skies with patches of clouds over the southern region, with chances of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rain over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later on Monday.

For Tuesday, sunny and hazy conditions are expected over the northern and central regions. In the south, sunny skies with patches of clouds are anticipated, with chances of morning thunderstorms over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states. Later in the day, thunderstorms are likely over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa.

On Wednesday, sunny and hazy skies are forecast in the north in the morning, with dust haze expected in the afternoon and evening. The central region will experience sunny and hazy skies throughout the day. The southern region will see cloudy skies with sunny intervals in the morning, and possible isolated thunderstorms with light rain over parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states.

NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions due to suspended dust particles in the North-Central region. People with asthma or other respiratory issues should heed the weather conditions, and drivers should exercise caution during rain. Airline operators were encouraged to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective planning.
